Bear Metal Works is bouncing back from the COVID slowdown with a busy last few months here at the shop! Installed in late September, our new 3kw Amada Fiber Laser is now ready to rock. Faster speeds, cleaner cuts, and a loading tower to help us run multiple jobs ''lights out''. This is a very exciting time for us as we evolve into more laser cutting processes.
This summer Bear Metal Plant 1 had its flat roof torn off, replaced the wood structure and had a new membrane put on top of it to secure it for the future from damage and/or leaks. After the asbestos was removed from the roof, the boarded up windows along side the building/roof were replaced with brand new glass and ventilation windows.
Bear Metal Works has continuously increased its’ sales total each year it has been in business. This year, 2015, Bear Metal Works plans to eclipse the $5 million mark! While consistently fabricating quality products and improving our facilities and equipment, Bear Metal Works is becoming the premier sheet metal fabricator in Western New York. We plan on growing our customer base and cementing ourselves as the “one-stop” shop in the region.
Bear Metal Works is very excited to announce it has recently purchased a new building to accommodate its expansion of new machinery and hiring of employees. The Buffalo Zoo is currently re-designing and upgrading the polar bear facility and enclosure. This project is going to be completed over the next few years and is costing millions of dollars. The Zoo has welcomed this past summer two baby polar bears (Luna and Kali) and they have become a community favorite. This new exhibit will help the city keep these bears here.
With the merging of Denler Stainless, Bear Metal Works has made major improvements to its Milton St. location. We recently replaced the entire shop floor with new concrete for more equipment to be installed and for easier driving abilities.
Denler Sheet Metal, a custom stainless fabrication shop which has been operating in Buffalo since WWII, has been acquired by Bear Metal Works. Chris Beyer, DSM’s current owner, and Barrett have worked together for over 20 years and have decided to combine their businesses. Chris’ expertise is both artistic and architectural, which will allow Bear Metal Works to increase its capacity as well as broaden its’ customer base.
Polar bears have adapted to a lifetime in the cold Arctic temperatures, from the texture of their fur to the way they reproduce and care for their young. They highly depend on sea ice which unfortunately makes them a very vulnerable species. The status of large carnivores such as polar bears are obvious indicators of ecosystem health. Polar bears are being studied to gain an understanding of what is happening throughout the Arctic. Polar bears at risk are often signs of something wrong somewhere in the arctic marine ecosystem.
The popular ABC television series “Extreme Makeover—Home Edition was recently in town to help out a family in need. The Powell Family who live on Massachusetts Ave. were the recent recipients of a brand new home, car and college education for all 5 members.
We increased our office space and employee break room area from 250 square ft. to 2,250 sq ft. We now have a conference room, reception area, private office, engineering area and as well as remodeled bathrooms (sure beats the porto-potty). We also installed a new phone system and upgraded our office furniture. If you would like a personal tour, we would be more than happy to arrange one for you (please call for appt.).
2007 was a banner year for Bear Metal Works. Not only did we expand into a full service steel fabrication shop, but we exceeded all expectations with over $1 million in annual sales. Thanks to great customers like you, we hope to continue this growth with an acquisition of another company in the upcoming year. This will expand the range of our capabilities and increase employment with new jobs.
While Bear Metal Works is growing, so is the city of Buffalo and Western New York.
